A day in Pireas (Athens)

Oh what a night…the first night in Athens, it’s SO cool, no humidity and no bugs!!! A few Molotov cocktails here and there, but great sleeping weather. Up this morning and decoded the Greek coffee pot and made a GREAT cup of coffee. Will go out later and pick up the ferry tickets and do some shopping locally just to see what is out there.

Took a stroll down the streets of Pireas today…every Thursday is “Street Market” day so we visited one close by…vegetables, fruits, fish, clothes….you name it for blocks. Some really nice tomatoes.

Then we went in and out of some of the shops, of course the ones that drew my interest were the bakery’s and the Gyro shops….so of course we HAD to buy some Gyros to bring home, stopped by the bakery and got dessert. Then went to the market…a grocery store with an UPSTAIRS!!! Picked up some COLD beer and other necessities. After all that exercise it was time for lunch…hot gyros and cold beer on the balcony.

After a short nap we picked up the tickets for the ferry tomorrow. That pretty much did it for a first day in Athens (Pireas). Spent the rest of the day re arranging furniture, painting picture frames and generally getting things ready to go to the islands tomorrow.

Will keep you posted on the Jet Boat ride and our departure from Pireas and arrival to Mykonos…won’t be there till 10pm tomorrow night, so the update may be late getting posted.

OH....and by the way, another Smart Car sighting!!!!!
